Is Wealthy Affiliate Platinum Better Than Before?

It’s now over 2 months since Wealthy Affiliate had an upgrade and turned Platinum, so I thought I would share my views on it.

I have been a Member of Wealthy Affiliate for over 18 months and a lot of us older members were not very keen on the new look at first.  The Wealthy Affiliate interface had changed so trying to negotiate my way around the site was very confusing at first.  The other thing I found difficult and frustrating was the that site had a few minor “bugs” and some things were not working properly.

But two months on and most of the “bugs” and minor hiccups have now been sorted out and it is now running smoothly again.  I must say and without prejudice (because everyone knows that I’m a great WA fan) that I really think Wealthy Affiliate Platinum is a great improvement on the older version.

In my opinion the Wealthy Affiliate Training Centre has greatly improved.  Previously we had the 8 Week Action Plan and that meant that every week new members would get a new lesson once a week, for 8 weeks.  This was good in some respects because it helped to prevent new members from getting overwhelmed and trying to learn everything in one go.  Internet marketing is a huge topic as a whole and trying to learn it all at once can really cause information overload.  Information overload is one of the biggest reasons why a lot of people give up on their internet marketing dreams, because they think it’s just too difficult and confusing for them.

But now at Wealthy Affiliate Platinum the training is broken down into categories, such as Article Marketing, Email marketing, Search Engine Optimization, Website Development, Web Hosting and PPC Marketing.  So new members can begin with the Getting Started Action Plan which covers the basics of internet marketing and from there they can choose which direction they would like to take. So for example if they choose Article Marketing they could concentrate on that area, get some practical experience and then look at other areas as and when they feel ready.

Another new innovation at Wealthy Affiliate Platinum is Member Rank.  Now all Members are given a Rank Number and this has caused a great deal of competition amongst members.  But how member rank is a calculated is a little bit mysterious, rather like a Google algorithm in that nobody is quite sure how exactly it is calculated.  But I rather suspect it is based on a Member’s activity and how much they contribute to the community.

I think this is great for the whole community because it spurs members on to help each other out and make training tutorials for the Share Zone.  I do have to say though, that the community at Wealthy Affiliate has always been terrific, with members always willing to share ideas and help others.  But now with the new Member Rank, a lot of Members really are excelling in their efforts to contribute even more to the community.

Obviously this has been an all round win win situation.  I think it is especially great for new Members because although there has always been great help and support for them, now there is even more!

So what are the drawbacks?  There have to be some drawbacks, right?

OK one big drawback is that because there is even more great information and resources, what with all the new material in the Share Zone, plus great and informative forum posts and discussions going on, it is very hard to tear yourself away from Wealthy Affiliate Platinum.  So members could end up spending too much time at Wealthy Affiliate and not enough time in getting on with their own internet marketing campaigns!

So if you are a member of Wealthy Affiliate, what do you think of the new Wealthy Affiliate Platinum?  I would love to hear your views.
