Are You Using Google Docs?

When someone told me about Google Docs a few weeks ago I must admit I was pretty underwhelmed.  I thought why would I want to use Google Docs? After all I already have Word and TextPad so I don’t need another text editor. But then I thought why not give it a try anyway, so I did.

Well I have to say I am really glad I did try it because now I think it’s great and I use Google Docs all the time.

It has all the usual text editor features including a spell checker and word count. But the thing I really like about Google Docs is that you can put your affiliate links in the document and if you copy and paste your work to Blogger or WordPress you links will stay intact.  You can also download your documents in different formats including as a Word or Text document and as a PDF file.

Another great feature that I found out about yesterday (when I accidentally nearly lost the article I was writing) is revision history.  It gives you a list of the different versions of your document after all the edits you have made.  So if like me you do something stupid and lose your work, you can go back to revision history and retrieve your work.  How cool is that!

All your documents are securely stored online so it can be very handy. If you was at work and in your lunch break wanted to carry on with an article you were writing, all you would have do is go online to your Google Docs and carry on with your work.

You can also share your documents online too.  This is very good if you wanted to show your document to a friend, they can read the document online and they can also edit the document too. The original version of your document will stay intact.

There are so many more great features to Google Docs, you can check it out for yourself.  If you don’t already have a Google Account you can sign up for a Google Account here and read more about Google Docs.

Oh and best of all its free!
